I love mechanical drawings. I lucked upon a pile of airplane journals from the 1940s and 1950s at a flea market—a treasure trove of engineering illustrations. The images have a playful precision. The colors and curves create a static action. Those aren’t common observations of technical diagrams, but the magazines were geared toward both aeronautical experts and enthusiasts. The layouts straddled the interest and expertise for both audiences.
