While hunting for old biker mags online (as one does…), I came across someone’s stash from the late ‘50s/early ‘60s. The titles mostly focused on motorcycle racing culture with a hint of greaser outlaw and…the pre-mod scooter scene. If it had two wheels and a motor it was fit to print, I suppose. The majority of the images were black and white illustrations with a few photos peppered in. When I was putting them together, I felt they needed…something. I had some extra sheets of yellow film gels for another collage project. They came in handy, breaking up the muted palette with a subtle pop. Moto is available for purchase at PULP Holyoke.
