About Michael

Collage Artist, Founder of Cut Loose Collage Workshops

I’m Michael Sjostedt, and I help people have fun. Seriously!

Through Cut Loose Collage Workshops, I create hands-on collage sessions that help people slow down, get off their screens, and reconnect—with themselves and each other.

These workshops aren’t about being perfect. They’re about play, reflection, and making something together. I’ve seen teams laugh more. Students relax. Seniors open up. Strangers become a community around a table covered in paper and glue sticks.

I started Cut Loose after years of making collage on my own. It helped me clear my head and find meaning in everyday materials. Now I bring that experience to others—at team retreats, libraries, schools, senior centers, museums, and more.

Since launching Cut Loose, I’ve led nearly 150 workshops for all kinds of groups—corporate teams, libraries, senior centers, college campuses, and more. No matter who’s at the table, the result is the same: more laughter, less stress, and a stronger sense of connection.

I’ve taken Cut Loose on the road, from libraries to campuses to corporate retreats. Here are a few places I’ve cut loose with:
